Greenfield Middle School

Our friends from Kakuda City visited Greenfield Middle School on Thursday morning and discovered that middle school students are the same whether they live in Japan or Greenfield, Indiana! They love to eat and they love to play games! They started their day with a breakfast of bagels, muffins, doughnuts, and fruit and then moved on to participating in an 8th grade choir class. After choir class, they sketched human models in Mrs. Hall’s 7th grade art class. Following art class, they played a very fun game of mat ball in PE class with another 7th grade class. Shota hit the very first “home run” Mr. Manning’s PE class has ever had in that game! Our visitors enjoyed lunch with our 6th grade students and their GMS hosts. After lunch, the GMS hosts took their Kakuda City friends on a tour of Greenfield Middle School, visiting classrooms and talking with other students. Before leaving for an afternoon of games and snacks at Joy Stouder’s house, our Japanese friends received gifts from the students and teacher of Greenfield Middle School.

Thursday night, our Sister City friends put together scrapbooks of their visit to Greenfield. They spent 2 1/2 hours pasting pictures and stickers in their scrapbooks so that they could share their experiences with family and friends in Kakuda City. Everyone enjoyed cropping their pictures and putting together their Indiana-themed pages. Thursday was a fun day for all!
