Akita-ken

I just returned home from a business trip to Akita-ken. I went to observe elementary and junior high school classes and discuss teaching methods. Akita is located on the other side of the country, on the Sea of Japan, and is renowned for two things: being very cold and having the best primary education in Japan. Our contingent went there to see for ourselves why. Akita had a very calming, natural feel, like our “great outdoors”.

I didn’t have time to eat Akita’s most famous food, kiritanpo. I did, however, buy a kit to make it before returning home. I will try to include it in a future post.

A very typical Japanese restaurant
